The editor-in-chief of Reform.by Fyodor Pavlyuchenko told “Nasha Niva” that 260 people supported the publication with donations in one day. The amount of the largest donation is 10,000 euros.

About problems with financing Reform.by Paulyuchenko reported on December 21. The main institutional donor refused to support the publication without explaining the reasons.

Fyodor Pavlyuchenko did not reveal the total amount of the received aid, but noted that it will allow Reform.by to survive “for some time”.

“I am embarrassed to ask people to help us, because there are more significant problems: the families of police prisoners, the regiment Kalinovsky and many others,” the journalist explained the situation.

In his opinion, it is impossible to solve problems with Reform.by and other Belarusian media through data. It should be institutional support, primarily from the European Union and the United States.

According to him, the editorial office is now in contact with the European officials and the office Svetlana Tikhonovskaya.

According to Pavlichenko, a consensus has now been formed in the European Union that Belarusian and Russian media should unite, work together, there is no difference between Russia and Belarus.

“Russian media, which were forced to go abroad, are a priority, while Belarusian media remain outside the process. This is a mistake on the part of European politicians. “Belarusian media should be separated from Russian media, they should not be combined with Russian cases,” says the editor-in-chief of Reform.by.

Reform.by as a full-fledged mass media was created in August 2018. It was initiated by three journalists — Alyaksei Zhukau, Alyaksandar Atroshchankau and Fedor Pavlyuchenko.

In August 2021, the Ministry of Information of Belarus blocked the domain for Belarusian users. After the start of the war, Russian censors also started blocking. The site was removed from Russian news aggregators and blocked in the Russian Federation.

In April of this year, the Reform.by website community in Odnoklassniki was declared “extremist”.

The power struggle against non-state media

In 2020–2021, a number of independent newspapers of national and regional volume stopped being published. Most of the newspapers stopped publication due to political pressure after publication – they were not allowed to continue publishing in Belarus.

Problems with printing presses arose before the editors of the publications:

“Belgazeta”, “Brest newspaper”, “Slonimskaya newspaper”, “Inform-walk”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus”, “Leader-press”. “Narodnaya Volya”, “New Hour”, “Regional Newspaper”, “Free News Plus”, “Hantsavitsky Hour”.

Many editorial offices and journalists’ homes were searched. Some newsrooms were searched several times.

Financial problems caused the closure of two more independent newspapers popular in their regions. At the beginning of last year, “Barysau News” ceased to be published, and at the end of 2020, the last issue of the newspaper “Volnoye Glybokaye” was published.

A number of non-governmental information portals also encountered problems. Products of websites and social networks of such mass media as:

“Belsat” “Belarusian Partisan” “Nasha Niva” Radio Svaboda Ex-press.by By.tribuna.com Tut.by “Brestskaya Gazeta”

In Vorsha, by the decision of the prosecutor’s office, the regional portal Orsha.eu was blocked, in Gomla “Svobodnye Novosti Plus”, in Vitebsk “Vitebsky Kurier”.

Some editors themselves decided to stop publishing paper versions, such as “Inform-walk” in Luninka or “UzHorak” in Gorky.
