Three Men Sentenced to 25 Years for Sexual Assault of Minor in Kozhikode
Kozhikode – Three men have been sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 75,000 for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl by giving her beer. Avinash (23) of Thalakulathur Annasseri Kanyeri Meethal house, Ashwant (24) of Talakulathur Kandanga house, and Subin (23) of Purakatteri Peria house were convicted by Koilandi fast track special court judge M. Suhaib as per the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) law and Indian Penal Code.
The incident took place in 2022 when the accused took the girl on a bike to an empty field in Paloramala after luring her by claiming that she was going home after class. They then proceeded to sexually assault the girl by giving her beer.
The case was registered by the Elathur police and was investigated by Kozhikode Assistant Commissioner P. Bijuraj. Advocate P. Jethin appeared for the prosecution.
This harsh sentencing sends a strong message regarding the zero tolerance for crimes against minors and serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for such heinous acts.
