It is worth remembering that December 1 was an official non-working day, due to the change of government, but for 2024 that day was modified and became October 1 with the swearing-in of the now president Claudia Sheinbaum.

This adjustment was established in a reform which was implemented in a fixed manner, so now, every six years, when there is a change of government, October 1 will be an official holiday and no longer the December 1.
How many days of official rest are left in 2024?
According to the Federal Labor Law (LFT), the calendar that subtracts two official non-business dates, which are:
- November 20 (Revolution Day)
- December 25 (Christmas)
However, the LFT contemplates that in the case of Revolution Daywhich is November 20, will travel to monday 18so that workers can enjoy the so-called “bridge”.
In the case of December 25 Since it falls on a Wednesday, the law does not stipulate that it be traveled on that day, so it is fixed.
Official rest days are paid double
The Federal Labor Law considers holidays or holidays as a non-working day and is considered a mandatory rest day.
In this sense, in his article 75 that workers must receive a double paymentregardless of the salary that corresponds to them, for providing services on a mandatory day of rest.

In which cases are they paid triple?
He article 71 of the LFT indicates that in the event that the mandatory day of rest coincides with the weekly rest day, that is, on a Sunday, the employer must make a triple payment.
“Workers who provide services on Sunday will be entitled to an additional premium of at least twenty-five percent on the salary of ordinary work days. Derived from the above, the worker will receive triple the salary for that day plus the Sunday bonus,” indicates the LFT.
This payment applies to:
“All those workers who are day laborers, domestic employees, workers, artisans and, in general, any employment contract.”

DAM: I would recommend planning ahead! Mark these official holidays on your calendar and consider taking additional days off around them to create longer breaks.
