It has already been reported that “Milton” made landfall in the US state of Florida on Wednesday evening as a Category 3 storm, bringing strong winds, rain and causing high waves at sea.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Milton had spawned several deadly tornadoes and left more than three million people without power.
In St. Lucie County, on Florida’s east coast, four people were killed in tornadoes caused by the hurricane.
In St. Petersburg, winds uprooted trees and damaged the roof of a baseball stadium, and toppled a crane that collapsed the building.
In Cleaverwater, on the west coast, rescue teams with boats set to work in the first rays of light to collect residents trapped in their homes by floodwaters.
Although the center of the hurricane has already left the peninsula, populated areas are still threatened by strong winds, rain and the possibility of flash flooding.
