Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said that the leaders and workers of Awami League have stood by the people by excluding the Iftar party, and said that I have aimed to ensure that the people do not suffer in any way.
He said these things at the ‘Freedom Award-2024’ distribution ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Monday (March 25).
The Prime Minister said that we are distributing food free of cost to the people so that the people of the country do not suffer during the month of Ramadan. We skipped the Iftar party. We have called upon all our leaders, activists, institutions to distribute Iftar among common people instead of holding Iftar parties. To stand by people.
He said, eating iftar is not a big thing, giving to people is a big thing. We have focused on eliminating the issue of eating. I have aimed to ensure that people do not suffer in any way.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the global economy, while the Ukraine Russia war, sanctions, counter-sanctions, have made it more difficult for us to import goods. Transport costs have gone up, prices have gone up. Inflation has increased. This problem is not only ours, it is a global problem.’
Sheikh Hasina said that the history of Bangladesh’s independence was distorted after killing the father of the nation. The March 7 speech was banned. As our liberation wars brought freedom to this country with Jai Bangla slogans, Jai Bangla slogans were banned. The murderers of the father of the nation will not be prosecuted, they were rewarded by that law, with jobs in the embassies of different countries, with the right to do politics. Opponents of the liberation war who handed over their mothers and sisters to the Pakistanis were put in power. Bangladesh, the spirit of the liberation war, the goal, the ideal of independence, started a journey in the opposite direction. The unfortunate thing for us is that despite winning, we could not talk about victory.
“Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman not only gave the state, he also showed the way how Bangladesh will run. Again, because of Bangabandhu, India did not establish a base in independent Bangladesh. After 21 years, the Awami League government came to power and brought back the lost glory of the Liberation War.
He said, today digital Bangladesh has become, by 2041 I will build smart Bangladesh, I will move forward to build the golden Bangladesh of the father of the nation’s dream. Friendship with all and enmity with none is our policy. Still, there are some people in the country who commit arson, we want them to be punished instead of arson.
Criticizing Ziaur Rahman, he said that the military dictator who came to power by killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975, also carried out genocide in this country like in 1971. Our army officers were killed one after another. Tortured many of our leaders and activists followed by electoral farce, party formation, party break-up. 21 years of various games have been upon us.
Stating that the government is working to change people’s destiny, the head of government said that not a single person in this Bangladesh will remain landless, homeless or addressless. We have taken the arrangement of lighting in every room. We have increased the education rate, reduced the poverty rate, ensured food security by increasing production, provided medical care.
Congratulating the freedom awardees, the head of government said that it is the most important thing to reward those who are doing the welfare of people on their own initiative. This award is not only an award, but many others will be interested in working for the welfare of people, that is a big thing. I heartily congratulate those who have received the award. We want to identify and reward more people who work for the welfare of people at various levels in the country.
“We are moving forward by setting our own goals along with the implementation of the United Nations SDGs. We will realize the dream of the father of the nation by building a smart gold Bangladesh by 2041. This is our conviction in the month of independence. In the month of independence, we pay respect to the martyrs, we hate those involved in the genocide. And let it not be like this. Genocide is still going on in Palestine, we strongly condemn and protest it. We want this genocide to stop. We are with the Palestinians. We don’t want war, we want peace. Because we know the horrors of war.’
Sheikh Hasina said, in 1981, Awami League made me the president, so I returned to the country with a lot of difficulty. He had only one goal, to build Bangladesh in the light of his dream Janatam from his father. We have managed to bring back the lost glory of Bangladesh. We are trying to change the fate of Bangladesh. No one will be landless and homeless here. Everyone will get food, treatment, we are making arrangements.
‘The father of the nation wanted an independent nation. A nation that will have a prosperous land free from hunger and poverty. He dedicated his life to it. He got little time after independence. In between, he built a war-torn country. It wasn’t that easy. But it became possible because there was leadership like Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujib. He made the country recognized as a least developed country in just three years. He said, he will shape the society caught in this way. did so But that’s when the real blow came. He had to give his life to his family. Unfortunately for us.’
