Britain’s King Charles III, who has been battling cancer for nearly two months, said he was proud of the courage of Princess of Wales Catherine, who in a broadcast earlier tonight in a video call, admitted that he has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapythe world agencies reported.

Charles III has remained in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.

The White House expressed its extreme sadness at the news that Catherine has cancer, the world agencies reported.

“This is terrible news,” said White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre and wished the princess a speedy recovery.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also wished Princess Kate a full and speedy recovery. He said he was speaking for all the British people.

France Press, quoted by BTA, also published the full text of Kate’s statement:

“I want to personally thank you for all the wonderful messages of support and understanding as I recover from my surgery. The last few months have been extremely difficult for my whole family, but I have a wonderful medical team looking after me, which I am very grateful to him,” says the princess in it.

“I had major abdominal surgery in London in January. At the time I was thought to be cancer-free. The surgery was successful. However, post-surgery tests showed the presence of cancer. So the medical team advised me to undergo prophylactic chemotherapy and I am now in the beginning of this treatment,” she adds.

“This has of course been a huge shock and William and I have done our best to take it and deal with it privately for the sake of our young family,” added the princess.

“As you can imagine it took us a while, it took me a while to recover from major surgery to be able to start my treatment and more importantly it took us a while to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that suits them, to reassure them that I will be fine,” says Catherine.

“As I told them, I’m fine. I’m getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal my mind, body and spirit. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and confidence, and the love and kindness shown to me by so many of you, which means so much to both of us,” added Princess Catherine.

“We hope you understand that as a family we now need time and respect for our space and privacy while I complete my treatment,” she urges.

“My work has always brought me great joy and I look forward to resuming it when I can, but now I must concentrate first and foremost on my full recovery,” added the princess.

“At this moment, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been touched by cancer. To all who are faced with this disease in any form, do not lose faith and hope. You are not alone,” she concludes.
