Despite losing the Test series, there was great anticipation for the Indian team in the ODI series. But the Indian team was whitewashed by disappointment in all aspects of batting and bowling.
The Indian team lost both the ODI and Test series on their first overseas tour of South Africa under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid.
Former India coach Ravi Shastri has said he has not seen a single ball in the India-South Africa ODI series.

Many of the big big players have left the captaincy to focus on batting. Ravi Shastri said that Gavaskar, Sachin and Dhoni are in the line-up and now Virat Kohli is stepping down from the captaincy to focus on batting.
