Adviser to the Ministry of labor and Employment retired Brigadier General M Sakhawat Hossain said, “To ensure real development in the labor sector, the problems of the workers must be carefully listened to and effective steps should be taken.” I am not a very big man’s son. He said this while addressing the chief guest at the National Occupational Health and Safety Workshop on Wednesday (November 27). The workshop was organized by the National Institute
“From training of workers to their health and safety,we have to look at everything,” said the labor adviser. We will conduct research activities through this institution. This will improve the quality of labor in the country.Exports will increase. Our industry will expand.”
He said, “Occupational health and safety research and training institute activities should be expanded to Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna, the labor-intensive regions of the country.” Through these centres, workers’ health, safety, skill development and research should be carried out.
In the President’s speech, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment AHM Sofikuzzaman said, “National Occupational Safety and Health Training and Research Institute (NOSHTRI) will be a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the field of occupational health and safety of the state.” It’s activities should be started in full speed soon. From today’s workshop, we have to plan and create a roadmap.”
“NOSHTRI will play an crucial role in preventing accidents at work, rehabilitating workers and implementing international labor standards,” said ILO Country Director Tumo Putianin.
