“Mustakatko. He’s sitting up there laughing at us right now. As his father says: “Such a slap hit us that we don’t know which world we are in”. We here suffer for him, we mourn because we will miss him. To say to him: “Miche, Mishlence”, to hug him. There is no way this will happen anymore, it will only be a memory,” says Denitsa Veleva, the mother of the parachutist who died in the fatal accident near Botevgrad. Mihail Stoychev should have celebrated his 28th birthday.
The woman learns from the news that there has been an accident with a skydiver. “When I found out, I was driving. It is normal for any mother who knows about her child’s passion to call him. I called, but he didn’t pick up,” Denitsa told Nova TV.
“Micho was the sunniest child I’ve ever seen. An amazing man. Everyone he touched in some way changed him for the better. He and my young son are my greatest teachers of how this life should be lived. Not to fight, but to do what we like,” she added.
“I think what he dreamed of was seeing the world. He visited many places, many islands, met many interesting people. He traveled to America. They really wanted him to stay there, they liked him even when he was little, but the child preferred to stay in Bulgaria,” added Mikhail’s mother.
His greatest passion was to soar in the sky. He went to free fall training abroad. His mother even stopped counting how many jumps he did. “There were over 350. He wanted to improve, he liked it,” she added.
Hand in hand in the air in the last two years he has been with one of his closest friends – Stoyan Dimkov. Always together, except at the fatal moment.
“The first thing you say when you see Michaud is how smiling he is, with a warm and positive look hidden behind a curled moustache. I have never seen him angry, sullen, upset,” said Mikhail’s friend.
After Wednesday’s incident, authorities filed charges against the owner of the balloon from which the fatal jump was made. The balloon did not have a license. However, Denitsa says that nothing will bring her child back.
