Passed twice by the Parisian club, Bernard Laporte did not mince his words with regard to Stade Français.

First as a coach for 4 years (1995-1999) then as honorary vice-president around ten years later, Bernard Laporte did not have excellent memories of the craze during his passage to the Stade Français.

In an interview given to Olympic Midday, the former president of the French Rugby Federation (2016-2023) looked back on his experience, highlighting the lack of involvement of certain people. “At Stade Français, I sometimes had the impression that no one was interested in rugby when I went to the stadium» he said.

«If you don’t like pressure, you’re a hundred times better at Stade Français: no one bothers you, no one says anything to you when you lose. But if you need to be shaken up, you’ll be much better off in Toulon.» he adds. He also preferred to be shaken probably because it was during his time at the RCT (2011 – 2016) that his managerial record grew. He won a French champion title (2014) and three consecutive European champion titles (2013, 204, 2015).
