This solution is based on new signage, which are codes called ddTags, similar to QR codes. The labels are captured through any mobile device with a camera and an internet connection. The potential of this system lies in the great reading distance of the signs, as well as in the fact that they can be read in any lighting condition and reading angle.

Visually impaired users can use these codes as they do not need to know precisely where they are placed. The information obtained from each label is read by voice, in addition, it can contain information of all kinds and is fully accessible. This information is available in 34 languages, including Basque, breaking all language barriers.

This guidance system has been installed at the twenty-three tram stops and will also be installed at the five stops on the Salburua branch. In the first months of 2021, a pilot test was carried out at the Casco Viejo station of the Bilbao Metro, which received the go-ahead from the Territorial Delegation of Once in the Basque Country.

The Navilens codes placed at the tram stops also have QR codes with information on transit times. This functionality is aimed at people without disabilities, since these codes must be focused by the camera and once captured they open the Navilens GO application and show real-time information on the passing times of the next trams.
