“I wanted to leave Greece but the theater kept me”, said Giorgos Kentros, among others, speaking on the Studio 4 show today, Friday (11.10.2024).

Nancy Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos welcomed the well-known actor to their show. Giorgos Kentros spoke about his acting career, his first professional steps in the field and his personal life.

“I went to Mykonos with a backpack and my tent and stayed for a month. Things used to be simpler. I went on a tour in 1971-72 and it was very beautiful. I went back last year because I got married in Tinos and we decided to go. The boat stopped at a concrete dock and was a mess. I went to Psarrou with something “deathbed” and asked, “What is here?”, said Giorgos Kentros.

He then revealed: “I started theater because of a girl. I didn’t watch the theater when I was young. I have done legally, I wanted to leave Greece. I went to the school where the girl was and I liked it, I took exams at the Kuhn art theater and at the National, was accepted by both and I went to the National.”

“I wanted to leave but I was afraid because I had no goal, no help. When you are young you feel weak. From the theater I am very tired of performances and roles. The missing element in theater is magic. I haven’t seen a show that has enchanted me. I felt it with performances by Karolos Koon and Lefteris Vogiatzis, left me in tears”, said the well-known actor.

He added: “I have 6 years to go to Epidaurus. I had seen performances that surprised me. They put us in the orchestra…there would be a functional reason. I didn’t learn that way. The elders were moderate, they went up with their masks. Everything is not like that, but I only left the Japanese media in Lycabettus, I didn’t feel heartbreak from an actress, she was an excellent Japanese actress”.

“With the person without a face, since they had a face but a mask that was a speaker at the same time, you focus on the speech and the character he is making” Giorgos Kentros said then in the daily magazine of the public television.
