“The collegium of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, on the basis of materials submitted by Gosatomnadzor, made a decision to issue a license to the Belarusian NPP State Enterprise for the start of the physical start-up of power unit No. 2,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry of Energy of Belarus previously noted that with the commissioning of two power units of the BelNPP into commercial operation, electricity generation will amount to about 18 billion kWh per year. BelNPP will provide about 40% of internal electricity needs and will allow replacing about 4.5 billion cubic meters annually. m of natural gas. On February 2, 2021, BelNPP produced the first billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

Earlier, the first power unit of the BelNPP was shut down after the automatic generator protection system was triggered for almost three months – from July 12 to October 4 this year.
