In Krasnodar, they detained a gang of extortionists who staged a rape and demanded 15 million rubles from a candidate for State Duma deputy, promising in exchange not to prosecute him.
According to the press service of the regional investigation department of the TFR, a criminal case was initiated against three local residents aged 28 to 40 and a 22-year-old girl under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted fraud on an especially large scale). The name of the victim was not disclosed.
According to investigators, on the evening of August 23, the attackers met in a cafe in one of Krasnodar’s hotels with a candidate for State Duma deputy and mixed a substance that stimulates sexual desire into his drink. When the man felt unwell, the girl offered to help him up to the room, after which she artificially created evidence of the alleged rape.
Further, the defendants told the victim that they intend to file a statement with the law enforcement agencies, showed a prepared fictitious record of her testimony and demanded from him 30 million rubles, allegedly for transferring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers and evading criminal liability. Later, the amount was reduced to 15 million rubles. However, the criminal activity was suppressed by the operational officers of the Main Directorate of Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, and the attackers were detained by the investigator of the territorial department of the TFR in the region.
Currently, three of the accused are in custody. The investigator’s petition to arrest the organizer will be considered by the court in the near future. In addition, a criminal case was initiated against the girl on knowingly false denunciation (part 3 of article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to Kommersant-Kuban, we are talking about Gennady Bichev. In the last elections to the State Duma, he ran for the Dmitrov single-mandate constituency № 118 (Moscow region), represented the Russian Party of Freedom and Justice. According to the voting results, he took the penultimate place, having received 4.1 thousand votes.
