Benfica won 2-0 today on their visit to Arouca, in the 12th round of the Portuguese Football League, and recorded their seventh consecutive victory in the competition, moving closer to the leaders of Sport.
In Arouca, the ‘reds’ took the lead through an own goal from spanish defender Fontán, in the 12th minute, extending the lead through Argentina’s Di maria, in the 71st, from a penalty.
Wiht this result, Benfica moves up to second place, with 28 points, five behind the leader Sporting and one more than FC Porto, who only play on Monday.
the red-black team still has one game to play, against nacional, in the eighth round.
Arouca, who was not the coach of Vasco Zebra on the bench due to a penalty, went six games without winning in Serie I and is 17th, instead of direct relegation, with eight.
