Last year before Christmas, on December 23 at around 8 a.m., the State Police received information that in Liepāja, on Ezermalas Street, in the territory of a company, a man sat in a tractor near the administrative building after being released from work duties, and started a purposeful movement towards the administrative building with the intention of damage, which he succeeded in doing. He damaged the canopy and facade of the building.
With these actions, the man endangered the health and life of the people near the building, the police note. Driving the tractor in reverse, he ran into a BMW vehicle parked near the administrative building, damaging it. There were no victims in the traffic accident.
Officials of the state police started criminal proceedings against the man for intentionally damaging someone else’s property, if it was done in a generally dangerous way, that is, the man drove in the direction of a building where people were, thus endangering their health and life. An administrative violation process has also been initiated for running into a parked vehicle.
The man was detained the next day, December 24. Officials of the State Police went to the court to ask for a security measure to be applied to the man – detention, which was also applied. The investigation into the started criminal process continues, the police informs.
According to the Criminal Code, such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to ten years and with or without probation supervision for a term of up to three years.
