Amidst the arrival of the chief adviser to the interim government, tight security has been deployed in the Dhakeshwari National Temple area. For this purpose, various law enforcement forces including SSF are working there.
Bangladesh Army Chief General Walker-uz-Zaman has assured security during the ongoing Durga Puja. He expressed hope that it will be possible to celebrate the rest of the puja beautifully.
He said this on Friday (August 11) afternoon when he came to Ramana Kali temple to exchange greetings. Air Force Chief Air Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan were with him at that time.
The army chief expressed hope that harmony and coexistence among people of all religions will continue in the future as in the past.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Moinul Islam said, this year’s Durga Puja was very challenging. Many have expressed apprehension about Durga Puja. I have assured you before the start of the puja that the puja will be celebrated peacefully. This time Durga Puja is being celebrated with much grandeur.
The IGP said that Durga Puja is being celebrated in more than 32 thousand places of worship in the country. There have been isolated incidents, in each of which police action has been taken. So far 11 cases and 24 GDs have been registered out of 35 untoward incidents. 17 people have been arrested in these incidents.
