KYIV. March 16. UNN. In Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian region, the Security Service of Ukraine collected evidence regarding the abbot of the Holy Cross and Ascension Cathedral, who was involved in inciting religious hatred, informs UNN with a link to the SBU website.

According to the investigation, in December 2022, the priest repeatedly publicly offended the religious feelings of Ukrainians who expressed a desire to celebrate Christmas on December 25. Law enforcement officers documented more than 7 cases when the abbot humiliated the religious feelings of citizens of other faiths and tried to create hostile attitudes towards them.
A forensic-linguistic examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the criminal actions of the abbot of the temple. On the basis of the collected evidence, he was informed of the suspicion of violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional belonging, religious beliefs and on other grounds.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved, the investigation is ongoing.
