The extension of the Aïn Johra Industrial Park (PIAJ) was inaugurated on Wednesday in Tiflet, during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the president of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Albright.
The PIAJ extension project, located near Tiflet in the commune of Aïn Johra-Sidi Boukhalkhal, is supported by the Sustainable Industrial Zones Fund (FONZID), set up under the “Compact II” cooperation program funded by MCC and aimed at strengthening the model of sustainable industrial zones and contributing to the improvement of the productivity and environmental and social performance of industrial zones.
At a total cost of 153.2 million dirhams (MDH), including a contribution of 74.1 MDH from FONZID, the PIAJ extension project should ultimately generate nearly 19,000 jobs and projected industrial investments from the order of 2.2 billion dirhams, reports MAP.
The work carried out under the PIAJ extension project focused in particular on the development and servicing of 38 Ha, including 28 Ha dedicated to textiles in the industrial acceleration zone (ex-free zone), through the construction of roads and various networks (VRD): sanitation, drinking water, electricity, telephony and public lighting.
This work also covered the construction of a rental industrial building with an area of 2,600m² divisible into cells of 400 to 500m² and a service building of 1,200m², the progress rate of which is close to 90%. .
In order to enhance the environmental performance of the PIAJ, the project also provides for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (STEP) which will be shared with the neighboring town of Tiflet, which has a completion rate of nearly 94%, as well as the construction of a pumping station and a wastewater transfer network from the industrial park to the STEP having reached a completion rate of 85%.
In order to reduce its impact on the environment, the project has also provided for the acquisition of a truck to ensure the collection of certain waste from the companies located in this industrial park and two electric mini-cars for the needs of management of the area and the establishment of a charging station for these vehicles.
On the other hand, and with a view to improving the quality of use of this industrial park, many services will be put in place, such as the development of a catering kiosk for the workers, the acquisition of an ambulance, the creation of a one-stop shop, the deployment of a group purchasing service and the installation of street furniture.
Furthermore, and in order to consolidate the management structure already in place in the industrial park, FONZID supports this structure in an ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certification process, through the implementation of a quality and consideration of the environment and the implementation of a digital platform to monitor the maintenance of the fleet.
The governance of this industrial park will also be strengthened with the creation of a business association whose purpose is to support its members on themes related to strengthening their competitiveness and taking the environment into account. and gender and social inclusion (GIS) dimensions, which should thus contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of the industrial park.
It should be noted that the extension project of the Aïn Johra Industrial Park is carried out by the company “PIAJ”, constituted by the Region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, the Council of the city of Rabat, the Prefectural Council of Rabat and the municipal councils Tiflet and Aïn Johra-Sidi Boukhalkhal, in partnership with the Hassan II Fund for economic and social development.
