India beat New Zealand by a huge margin in the first match of the T20 series. After losing the toss and opting to bat, New Zealand chased down the target of 165 by five wickets in 19.4 overs. Suryakumar Yadav (62) and Rohit Sharma (48) were instrumental in India’s victory.

Score: New Zealand 164 for six in 20 overs. India 166 for five in 19.4 overs.

India were able to make amends for their defeat to New Zealand in the Twenty20 World Cup. With this victory, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The Kiwis bowlers were able to put pressure on India in the final overs as they were rushing to victory at one point. Bolt took two wickets for New Zealand, while Santouner, Southee and Mitchell took one wicket each.

After losing the toss and opting to bat, the Kiwis scored 164 for six in the allotted 20 overs. Openers Martin Guptill (70) and Mark Chapman (63) put the Kiwis ahead.

For India, R Ashwin took two wickets for 23 runs in four overs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets for 24 runs in four overs. Deepak Chahar took 42 runs in four overs and Mohammad Siraj took 39 runs in four overs. All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer did not bowl today.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar stunned the Kiwis in the first over after losing the toss. World Cup hero Daryl Mitchell (0) was bowled by Bhuvi Clean in the third ball. While Bhuvi was stingy in conceding runs, Deepak Chahar conceded a run and sent India into the fray.

After Mitchell, Mark Chapman and Gupta put together a great performance at the crease. Chapman scored a half-century with a score of 92. This is the star’s first Twenty20 half-century. New Zealand reached 100 in 12.4 overs. Later, Guptill and Chapman forged a century partnership. The duo combined for a century off 76 balls. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the tie with a score of 110. Ashwin clean bowled Chapman for 63 off 50 balls with six fours and two sixes.

At one point, the Kiwis were bowled out for a big score by the Indian bowlers in the final overs.
