Indian‍ pacer Mohammad Shami has been⁢ sidelined for almost nine months due to an‍ ankle​ injury. However, there ⁣is hope that he could return⁣ to‌ action for the Test series against Bangladesh.

The ​Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) is optimistic ‌that Shami ⁣will⁤ be ready​ for the series, which begins ⁤on September 19th. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation ⁣at the National Cricket Academy in ​Bangalore.

Shami has been gradually increasing his bowling workload since‌ undergoing successful ankle surgery ⁣last month. His progress is⁢ encouraging, suggesting that the ⁤Indian selectors have reason to⁤ be hopeful.

The selectors plan ‌to ⁣include⁣ Shami in at least one‍ match of the upcoming Dilip Trophy, which‌ starts ⁢on September 5th. This will provide valuable insight into his fitness ahead of‍ the Bangladesh series.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar commented, “Shami​ started bowling. This is a very good point. September 19th is the‍ first Test and‍ that ​was always the‍ target.”
