Kiev: Dr. Krikumar Patil from India, who took care of his pets, a black leopard and a jaguar amid the sounds of explosions in the tense war environment in Ukraine, has now parted with them with a heavy heart.

Girikumar Patil, a doctor from Hyderabad, was adamant that he would not return to the country without his beloved black leopard and jaguar in Ukraine. Krylkumar, who has been living alone for six years in the small town of Severodonetsk in the Donmasz province of western Ukraine, bought a black leopard and a jaguar from the Kiev Zoo 20 months ago for $35,000 (Rs 26,74,692).

It was at this point that Russia invaded Ukraine.

Due to this he continued to stay there with his pets. He sold his land, flat, car, bike etc. in the last few months to keep feeding his pets. At this stage, all the money Krikumar had was spent. After this, he decided to go to Poland and earn money, and asked the person staying near his house to take care of his pets and left.

In this situation, Kirikumar, who was caught by the Russian army, was kept in a refugee camp in Ukraine. They then released Krikumar at the Polish border to reveal his background to the Russian army. Currently, Krikumar is in Poland trying to rescue his pets. In this regard, they informed the Indian Embassy in Ukraine that wildlife cannot be rescued from war zones. This has disappointed Krikumar.

Krikumar says, “I am trying to save my pets somehow. I am happy if the Indian government rescues them and leaves them in the Indian forests. I want to protect them.”

40-year-old Krikumar Patil went to Ukraine in 2007 to study medicine. Krikumar Patil, who has been an orthopedic doctor since 2014, was working at a government hospital in Severodonetsk.
