A reporter from India’s national airline, Air India, said on June 6 that a plane on its way from Delhi to San Francisco was forced to change direction and land at an airport in the town of Magadan. on the shores of the Sea of Okhotsk in Russia’s Far East after a technical problem with one of the engines.
Air India said all 216 passengers and 16 crew members on board were supported on the ground and spent the night in a local hotel.
The airline plans to send another plane on June 7 to pick up passengers and crew back to the starting point.

Currently, the Russian Aviation Authority is checking the technical condition of the aircraft after it landed at Magadan airport and they have allowed an alternative flight to land there at 03h00 GMT on June 7.
The diversion of the Boeing (BA.N) 777 wide-body aircraft comes amid a global debate over the use of Russian airspace by some airlines while the CEO of United Airlines (UAL) .O) Scott Kirby warned on June 5 about the risk that planes carrying US citizens could be forced to land in Russia.
The diversion also raises questions about how quickly the famous US-made $200 million Boeing 777, which has engines made by General Electric, can be repaired in the context of the US and European Union. The European Union (EU) bans the export of aviation products to Russia.
