Mumbai: India’s youngster Mayank Agarwal has been shortlisted for the ICC’s Cricketer of the Month award last month. Mayank was included in the list following his outstanding performances in the series against New Zealand and South Africa. Apart from Mayank Agarwal, New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel and Australia’s Mitchell Starc are the other nominees.

Mayank Agarwal was making the most of the opportunity when India’s regular openers Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Shubhman Gill were left out of the squad in each case. Mayank, who played in two Tests against New Zealand, scored 276 runs at an average of 69. Mayank’s innings included two fifties and a century. Mayank’s innings was crucial in the first Test against South Africa.

Ajaz Patel, a New Zealand spinner of Indian descent, took 10 wickets in an innings in the Test against India. Starc’s all-round performance with the bat and ball in the Ashes series helped.
