Indonesia earthquake – death toll rises to 318

A powerful earthquake hit the city of Cianjur on the Indonesian island of West Java last Monday. Many buildings including houses, offices and shops collapsed due to this earthquake which was recorded as 5.6 on the Richter scale. The bodies of 162 people were recovered. More than 700 people were injured.

They were rescued and admitted to hospitals for treatment. Efforts to rescue those trapped in the rubble continued.

Another 90 bodies were recovered from the rubble last Wednesday morning. With this, the death toll rose to 252. After this, the death toll from the earthquake rose to 271. Many of the dead were children. Rescue work continued in the earthquake area.

In this case, the death toll in the earthquake has increased to 318. The National Disaster Response Force said they are searching for 20 more missing people.

President Joko Widodo personally visited the earthquake areas a few days ago. Compensation has also been announced for the owners who lost their houses.
