He Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI) increased 0.6% at a monthly rate in September, after a contraction of 0.4% in August, according to seasonally adjusted figures.
This progress was mainly driven by the growth of manufacturing sector of 1.0% and the construction of 0.7%which was partially offset by the falls recorded in mining 1.3% and in generation of electrical energy of 1.1%.
In annual and seasonally adjusted terms, the industrial production recorded a zero variation, the first since November 2021.
By sector, manufacturing and electric power generation grew 1.5% and 1.2%, respectively, while mining and construction decreased 4.3% and 2.3%.
Within the manufacturing sector, in the accumulated January to September 2024, only seven of the twenty-one subsectors showed growth, which resulted in a accumulated growth of 0.3% in the sector.
Going forward, industrial activity could show less dynamism due to various factors, according to an economic analysis by Valmex.
