Industrial activity rebounds up to 0.6% in September

He Monthly Indicator of ⁢Industrial Activity (IMAI) increased 0.6% at a ⁣monthly rate in September, after a ​contraction of 0.4% ⁢in August, ‌according ‍to seasonally adjusted⁢ figures.

This progress was mainly driven by the ⁤growth of manufacturing sector of 1.0% and the construction of⁤ 0.7%which was partially offset by the falls⁢ recorded in mining 1.3% and⁤ in generation of electrical energy of 1.1%.

In annual‍ and seasonally adjusted⁢ terms, the industrial ⁤production recorded a zero variation, the first since November 2021.

By sector, manufacturing⁣ and electric‍ power generation grew 1.5% and 1.2%, respectively,⁣ while mining and construction decreased 4.3% and 2.3%.

Within ⁤the manufacturing sector,‌ in ⁣the accumulated January ‌to September 2024, only seven of the twenty-one subsectors showed growth, which resulted in⁣ a accumulated growth of 0.3% in the sector.

Going forward, industrial activity could show less dynamism due to various factors, according to an ​economic analysis by Valmex.
