Industry Friendly States Index: Kerala ranks 15th with a score of 75.49% – P Rajeev

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Industries Minister P. Rajeev said that timely amendments to the laws granting permission to industrial enterprises and implementation of policy decisions have helped in the development of Kerala. He said that the programs currently being implemented will help improve Kerala’s ranking in the coming years. Kerala has bagged a huge advantage in the index of business friendly states in India. From 28th position in 2019, Kerala reached 15th position in 2020 with a score of 75.49 percent.

Suman Billa, Principal Secretary, Industries Department, said that the improvement in the ranking would be an impetus to intensify efforts to attract more investments and enterprises to the state. KSIDC MD M. G. Rajamanikyam said that this achievement will help Kerala to become a priority state for entrepreneurship investments.

A unified approach to financial assistance schemes designed for MSMEs, women enterprises and start-ups will help improve the ranking in the future. He pointed out that the third edition of the online single window clearance system K-SWIFT, private-industry parks and one lakh new ventures targeted this year as part of the year of entrepreneurship will further improve the business environment in Kerala.

Every year, the DPIIT will issue a Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) to the states, specifying what the various departments need to implement for smooth start-up and smooth running of enterprises. In 2016, Kerala implemented only 22.8 percent. In 2019, 85 percent of the things were implemented, but the ranking was 28.
