The Government has committed to launching a new call for Perte Vec, before the end of the first quarter of this year to continue attracting battery production and electric vehicle value chain projects, as stated today by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu in a meeting held with the president of the Spanish Association of Automotive Suppliers (SERNAUTO), Francisco J. Riberas.

During the meeting, in which the general director of this association, José Portilla, was also present, the minister highlighted the importance of the automotive components industry for the competitiveness of the automotive sector. In this sense, he has pointed out that “the automotive components sector is strategic and fundamental. It contributes more than 75% of the value of the vehicle and makes a high investment in R&D&I, which makes Spain the fourth largest producer of automotive components in Europe.”

Likewise, Jordi Hereu has highlighted that “the automotive industry, which includes suppliers, contributes decisively to the progress of the Spanish economy and society, facilitating territorial cohesion through the wide establishment of companies. throughout Spain. Government and companies are ensuring that our industry leads sustainable mobility in Europe, and that we can face with guarantees this transformation that we are experiencing in the automotive sector in the world.”

In this sense, Hereu has stressed that measures like this Perte Ven demonstrate the Government’s commitment to continue moving towards the decarbonization of transport, and has reached out to the employers’ association of automotive suppliers, made up of more than a thousand companies, to collaborate in the transformation of the sector and move towards more sustainable and connected mobility.

For his part, the president of Sernauto has conveyed to the Government representative the need to support this industry, largely made up of small and medium-sized companies. “Our sector is facing an unprecedented industrial and technological transformation amid great uncertainty, inflation and geopolitical tensions. Hence, it is crucial to work together to guarantee the competitiveness of automotive suppliers both inside and outside our borders and thus continue attracting investments and future projects to our country.”

Riberas added that “European funds and the different types of aid must be adapted to the real needs of companies and arrive in an effective way, to advance the decarbonization of industrial processes, and support the huge investment in R&D. “+i carried out by the sector.” For his part, the general director of the businessmen, José Portilla, has proposed the main measures demanded by the sector in the short and medium term, such as technological and industrial sovereignty, taxation of R&D&i and a Renew plan to the rejuvenation of the automobile fleet.
