A Declaration will be adopted aimed at achieving effective connectivity throughout the territory of the European Union
The acting Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, chairs the informal Ministerial Transport meeting that has been held since yesterday and will continue throughout today in Barcelona, within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union .

The meeting, which brings together more than twenty European ministers in the field to debate the importance of putting people at the center of mobility and transport policies, will have the presence of the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean, and the Director General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, Magda Kopczynska, among other political representatives.
Today’s meeting, September 22, will take place in the modernist Sant Pau precinct and will be divided into two work sessions that will focus on the fundamental role of transport and mobility to contribute to achieving greater social and territorial cohesion, in the framework of decarbonization and digitalization.
Mobility strategies
Specifically, the ministers of the sector will share experiences and success stories with innovative mobility strategies aimed at promoting inclusion and transport services both in urban centers and in sparsely populated areas or with complex terrain that makes connectivity difficult.
As a result of the work, the Barcelona Ministerial Declaration will be adopted, under the title: Mobility for people: promoting social and territorial cohesion. This declaration aims to strengthen the path to achieving effective connectivity throughout the territory of the European Union, both in urban centers and in sparsely populated areas or areas with orographic difficulties. A path already started by the European Commission with the European Green Deal or the Smart and Sustainable Mobility Strategy.
