Intel has announced new processors in the 12th generation Core family, for both laptops and desktops

by time news

Intel surprisingly came to CES 2022 to deliver a show of strength, and it did so through a very large announcement of processors, including the first 12th-generation processors of the Core, Alder Lake processors designed for the laptop market, and this is The Core-H processors are based on a 45 watt TDP and are designed to provide mainly performance in the mobile field.

In total, the company introduced 8 Core-H processors, two of them Core-i9 while the other six are equally divided between Core-i7 and Core-i5. The flagship processor on this list is the Core i9-12900H with 8 performance cores and 8 efficient cores, which supports working in 20 threads, in a version that is open for speed. It can reach a maximum speed of 5 GHz and supports 24 megabytes of cache memory. The new processors, like, support DDR5 and DDR4 memories at the same time, as well as the more economical LPDDR4 and LPDDR5 memories.

According to Intel, its new flagship processor for the mobile market is the fastest processor in the field. “It achieves a record figure of up to 40% improvement over the previous generation and outperforms its competitors in the market – Apple’s flagship processors, the M1 MAX and M1 PRO, and AMD’s with the Ryzen 5900HX,” the company said in a press release.

Intel also announced that later this year it will launch Core-P processors for the mainstream mobile market with a TDP of 28 watts, as well as Core-U processors with a TDP of up to 15 watts.

Desktop market: 22 new processors – 35 and 65 watts

At the same time, Intel has announced no less than 22 new processors designed for the desktop market.

Of those processors 13 of them are mainstream processors, if you can define it that way, with a TDP ranging from 46 watts for the entry-level processors, Pentium G7400 and Celeron G6900 to 65 watts for the Core i9-12900 processor which also in this case comes with 8 performance cores and 8 cores Efficiency, and support for 24 working threads. In both families the Core-i7 processors offer 8 performance cores and 4 efficient cores with a maximum of 20 working threads, while the Core-i5 processors come with only six performance cores, while the Core-i3 processors are already equipped with only four performance cores – and multiply in the last two cases to get the possible amount of capillaries.

Three of the processors introduced in this family are also offered in F version, i.e. without a graphics chip: Core i9-12900F alongside Core i7-12700F and also Core i5-12400F.

The list is completed, as mentioned, by 9 T-family processors, all of which, including the Pentium and Celeron processors, live in a TDP environment of 35 watts. This means reduced performance, but only slightly: the Core i-12900 reaches a top speed of 4.9 GHz compared to 5.1 GHz of its corresponding mainstream processor, and so does all the processors included in the Alder Lake T family.

Like their more powerful brethren they support DDR4-3200 or DDR5-4800 memories, and they use the same chassis, LGA-1700. The layout of the cores inside the processors is also the same.

and what else?

After introducing the Z690 chipset at the first launch of Alder Lake processors, which is a kit designed for use in high-performance computers for Intel, it introduced three new chipsets to the consumer market, the H670, B660 and H610. The differences between the estimates are the number of DMI 4.0 channels supported, the amount of PCIe 4.0 channels – for example, the H610 does not support the connection of PCIe 4.0 channels at all while the H670 supports 12 channels like the Z690 – and the number of USB connections that can be connected to the board the mother. However all kits support WiFi 6E.

Intel has also officially announced Intel Arc, the more advanced version of its graphics chips that brings to the table support for ray tracking, support for XeSS and Deep Link as the company claims these are chips that can already run the leading games in the market. Intel also claims that the various manufacturers have already committed to 50 different models that will contain the new chip, and that many game developers are already making game adjustments to the new chip.
