Delhi: The Kovid Vaccine Technical Advisory Council has confirmed that the country is on the third wave of Kovid. Kovid Vaccine Technical Advisory Council Chairman Dr. K.S. NK Arora clarified.

Last week alone, there was a huge increase in Kovid cases in the country. “It simply came to our notice then. Says NK Arora. He says the Omicron variant is behind 50 percent of new cases. Omicron is more prevalent in cities. “A similar increase is seen in many cities around the world. This is an indication of a third wave, “NK Arora told PTI.

NK Arora says there is no need to panic, that 80 per cent of people in the country have contracted the virus, 90 per cent of adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 65 per cent have taken two doses of the vaccine.

He said there were similarities between the Omicron variety prevalent in South Africa and the situation in India. Aurora points out. “Given the number of cases in South Africa, the number of cases has risen sharply, but in just two weeks, the number of cases has dropped dramatically. Many had no symptoms. Or had very few symptoms. The number of cases requiring hospitalization was less than the total number of cases. Given all this, the number of cases in South Africa is likely to drop soon. A similar pattern is seen in India in the third wave ”, Dr. Says Aurora.

However, it is estimated that even a slight increase in the number of critically ill patients in India could lead to an increase in mortality. There have been various reports that the vast majority of people in the second wave of Kovid died without treatment. The concern is whether the second wave of misery will recur if hospitals are overcrowded.

The rest of the people who need to be vaccinated should be vaccinated as soon as possible. Aurora asked. Every precaution must be taken not to spill the Kovid.

Meanwhile, the third phase of the Kovid booster dose vaccine has been approved in principle. Permission has been granted for further testing of Bharat Biotech, a nasal vaccine. Permission has been granted by the DCGI Expert Committee. The vaccine is expected to be released in March after the trial.

On Tuesday, 37,379 new cases were detected in the country, up from 58,000 today. In a single day, it increased by 56 percent. The test positivity rate in the country has risen to 5 per cent. The daily death toll has crossed one hundred again. The number of Omicron victims has exceeded two thousand.
