/ The International and Asian Taekwondo Federation agreed, on Wednesday, to host Iraq for the Baghdad International Taekwondo Open Championship (G1) competitions, which will be held for advanced, youth and junior categories, and for both genders, during the month of October next year.

The head of the Taekwondo Federation, Mahmoud Abbas, said in a statement received by , that the International Taekwondo Federation has adopted the championship in its annual curriculum for the year 2024, as has the Asian Taekwondo Federation, and this is the first time that an officially recognized international championship has been held in the capital, Baghdad.

He pointed out that the countries of Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan have officially agreed to participate in the tournament, while the game federation will approach many countries developed in the game in the coming days in order to participate in its competitions, including South Korea, which is considered the best in the world, as well as attracting the largest number. It is possible for other countries to participate in the international tournament in the capital, Baghdad.

Abbas explained that the Federation intends to send special invitations to the champions who will be crowned with colorful medals in the Paris Olympics next summer, as the results of the tournament will be adopted as one of the criteria for classifying players internationally, and therefore we seek the participation of the largest possible number of national teams from all continents of the world.
