Farah Khan has talked openly about everything from entering the industry to direction, choreography and the tantrums of actors. She said – It is easy for me to handle children because I can make them understand by slapping them but I cannot slap an actor and it is not that I don’t feel like it.

Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan’s journey in the film industry is no less than a film script. Farah, who debuted as a choreographer about three decades ago, is also a successful director today. Farah, who entered the field of direction with the film ‘Main Hoon Na’, had recently come to Lucknow in connection with a program. During this, she spoke openly on issues ranging from women’s participation in the film industry, how difficult direction is, choreography to actor’s tantrums. Mohammad Fazil talked to him and he said a lot about personal life and professional life. Here are some excerpts from the conversation with him-

This world will not survive without women

Why is there a special day only for the celebration of women? I hate it. If you see, every day women take care of home, office and children. In such a situation, they should be there every day. Nothing can happen without them. If Women’s Day is replaced by ‘One Day Without Women’ then all the men will be admitted to hospitals on the same day, hence it should be celebrated every day because this world cannot function without women.

Women’s participation in the industry has increased

Earlier women used to get less space in the industry. She was seen only in a supporting role on screen. Earlier women used to get only backstage work, that too very normal, but now times are changing. Fifty percent of the staff in my film Happy New Year was women. In this, from assistant director to show runner, there were only women. Talking about films, many women-oriented movies are being made today. Look at artists like Raveena Tandon, Sushmita Sen, Tabu, they are still working and doing excellent work.

body shaming is nothing

Once there was a discussion going on about the fitness of heroines. Someone asked me whether you have ever seen a 75 kg heroine. I immediately said that yes, I have seen Huma Qureshi. She is an excellent actress. People often troll about body shaming but I consider it wrong. It’s fine as it is. Just make sure his work is good. But despite all this, we artists have to remain fit. If I tell you about myself, I became a mother quite late. Till two years ago I was trying to keep myself fit. I had to reduce my weight not because I was worried about people but so that I could stay fit and live a happy life with my children for as long as possible. Because if we do not keep ourselves fit then how will we be happy in life. It is important to stay fit to spend more happy time with your family.

Don’t like giving autographs in the age of selfies

Is it difficult to handle the actor or the children? On this Farah Khan said that it is easy for me to handle children because I can make them understand by slapping them. Cannot slap an actor. It’s not that I don’t feel like it, sometimes I feel like slapping her but I can’t do it. Besides, I don’t like giving autographs. Now it’s the era of selfies, so I am always ready for selfies. Also, I think it’s harder to make people dance than to make them laugh.

‘Age is just a number to me’

Farah Khan says that I consider age as just a number. Your heart should always remain young. Many times I have so much fun that the children start saying, “Mumma, stop it, we are feeling embarrassed because of you.” On the question of appearing on TV, he said that I like TV because it is accessible to every member of the house. In comparison, films are still lagging behind.

I wanted to be a filmmaker from the beginning

I entered the industry about 32 years ago. He debuted as a choreographer in 1992 with ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. At that time I wanted to become a filmmaker but by chance I became a choreographer because I was a good dancer. Then did only choreography for about ten years. During this time I worked with many big directors like Mani Ratnam and learned a lot from him. Made the film Main Hoon Na in 2004. It was liked a lot because it had a lot of humor, which the audience liked. As far as my humor is concerned, our entire family has a very good sense of humor. Recently my first film completed 20 years. Just as no one forgets the first love, the first kiss and it is close to the heart, similarly the film Main Hoon Na is close to my heart. When I make a movie or a song, I enjoy it a lot, but as soon as it is released, I lose all interest in it. Actually, after release it becomes the audience’s.
