Famous Indian wrestler Sangram Singh has achieved success in mixed martial arts even at the age of 40. He set an example of inspiration for young players by undergoing rigorous training for 25 days. While talking to Navbharat Times, he also discussed his upcoming film projects.

Famous Indian wrestler Sangram Singh is also a well-known face of the entertainment industry. He has also appeared in shows like ‘Bigg Boss’. Now Sangram has also achieved tremendous success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He had a special conversation with us about this:How did you get into MMA?
MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is a new sport. Boys and girls of new age take part in it. Only two sports are quite popular among today’s youth. First is football and second is combat sports i.e. MMA. I thought that since this sport is so famous, if I participate in it, it will inspire the youth of our country. Winning or losing is a matter of secondary importance. Although I have achieved success in MMA even at this age. Children who are involved in sports should be inspired to see me doing all this at the age of 40. A lot of kids in our country are doing MMA, but they have not got that much success yet. I think now more youngsters will pursue a career in MMA. I believe that when it comes to risk and regret in your life, always choose risk. At this stage of age when other wrestlers start thinking of retirement, I took a risk by going into MMA and achieved success.

You have been in the field of wrestling for a long time, have also won many medals. What difference did you feel in MMA? Was there anything new that you learned?
MMA training was very difficult. We think that we have learned a lot, but it turns out that we have learned nothing. When I reached there, I saw that I was at zero. Whatever your preparation may be, what your diet may be like, how your rest may be, but if your mindset is right on the field, then you become a champion. Nowadays we update our mobiles, but do not update our brain. Our mind remains the same, our thinking remains the same. And success in this world is not that someone comes into the field of sports, someone comes into the field of acting etc. The one who manages his emotions is successful. The youth think that someone is an actor, so they don’t know what he is doing. Don’t know what Virat Kohli is doing. But in reality no one is doing anything. If you can be happy, you are the best person in the world. Happiness is in your thinking and in your hands. People ask me why are you doing this after the age of 40? All I have to say is that my mind said I should do this, so I did it so that I don’t have any regrets. According to me there should be no regrets in life.

How many days did you train for MMA?
I scheduled 25 days of training in Bangkok. Trained there in several schedules of 6 hours each. Many people told me that recovery will not be fast at this age, but let me tell you that my recovery is fast. I believe that if you do any work, passion should be alive within you. I always say one thing that winning medals, winning trophies will not make you a champion. Will make you a champion – Never give up attitude. No matter how difficult it may be, you should not give up. Therefore, because of this thinking, I have got success in MMA also.

Can fans see you in films in the future?
I have done a biopic film with a big director. Many big actors have worked in it. I also have a small but important role. Apart from that, I am also going to do another film. Well, I believe that I should talk about the film only when it comes out. There are many things left in the pipeline. I am also going to be seen in some shows and series. There are also some songs whose planning is going on.
