Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the call dealt with developments in the Iranian nuclear file, where the President expressed Egypt’s deep concern about the escalation of tension in the region, stressing the necessity of avoiding escalation and rejecting military solutions, stressing that diplomatic solutions are the only and optimal way to settle the crisis, ensuring that the Middle East region is spared further tension and instability.
The official spokesman explained that President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s continued efforts aimed at bringing the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table, leading to a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear file, in a way that enhances regional and international stability, a matter whose importance the President emphasized to US President Donald Trump during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Davos Forum recently. In the same context, the President expressed Egypt’s aspiration for the concerned parties to uphold the value of dialogue, in order to overcome differences and reach a comprehensive settlement, stressing Egypt’s support for all efforts made in this framework.
The official spokesman also indicated that the Iranian President, for his part, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the positive role played by Egypt in avoiding escalation and maintaining security and stability in the region, stressing his country’s keenness to enhance political consultation and coordination with Egypt in a way that serves the support of regional stability.
