The Ministry of Commerce announced today, Monday, that the current strategic reserve of wheat crop amounted to more than 5 million and 500 thousand tons in all Iraqi warehouses, while confirming that flour prices will not rise with any global crisis.
The Director General of the General Company for Grain Trade in the Ministry, Haider Nouri, told the (INA): “The currently existing strategic reserve of wheat crop has reached more than 5 million and 500 thousand tons in all Iraqi warehouses, as we will enter the marketing season in the fourth month of next year.” We have stored more than two million tons,” indicating that “these quantities are large, and we have two shares remaining for this year and three shares for next year to reach the next marketing season.”
Nouri added, “The strategic reserve for the wheat crop is very large, and Iraq will not be affected by any global crisis,” noting that “quantities of wheat are present in all governorates, as each governorate has a strategic reserve sufficient for a full year, except for Basra Governorate, as we transfer quantities to it from other governorates.” “other”.
He continued, “All governorates have self-sufficiency in wheat, in addition to the presence of mills in every governorate, and we are fully prepared for any emergency global circumstance in the event that wheat prices rise or there are any disturbances in the transportation process, for example in Aden or elsewhere,” stressing that “flour prices “It will not rise with any global crisis.”
