Tatkal tickets are booked one day before the journey. The booking for classes 3AC and above will start at 10 am. Please note that bookings for bed-based classes start at 11 am. If you are booking a Tatkal ticket online through IRCTC website, there are a few things to keep in mind to book it quickly.

Things to remember
1. To book tatkal ticket with IRCTC, you must have an IRCTC account. If you don’t have one, you can create an account by visiting https://www.irctc.co.in website or IRCTC app.
2. Once the account is created, create a master list. Find the Main List option in the My Profile section and fill the details like Passenger Name, Age, Gender, Birth Preference, Food Preference, Senior Citizen, ID Card Type and ID Card Number.
3. Add passengers to the master list. You can store up to 20 passengers on the list.
4. Now, create travel list where it appears under My Profile option and select passenger name from main list. By doing these you are all set to book tatkal tickets.
Tatkal booking
– To book a Tatkal ticket for 3AC or above classes, log in to the IRCTC website or app by 9.57 am and by 10.57 am for sleeper class.
– Next, under the Plan My Journey tab, select the names of the train stations, select your travel date, confirm and submit.
– Now select the train you want to travel from the recommended train list. Choose from General, Premium Tatkal, Ladies and Tatkal too.
– Next select the boxes for which you want to book tickets and enter passenger details. Now, you can save your time by using master list.
– If you want to book tickets for 1-2 passengers, select passenger details from the master list. But if the number of passengers is more then select passenger details from the trip list.
– Once done, proceed to payment. After completing the payment, the booked tickets can be found in the My Bookings tab.
