Irizar e-mobility opens to the international market and will supply 32 100% electric buses to the state of Yucatán, in Mexico. The first units will be put into operation on December 30 in the Va-y-Ven public transportation system.

In a statement, the Guipuzcoan company has indicated that “this is a pioneering project for the Mexican state that will connect the Maya Train terminal, Umán, Kanasín, the Faculty of Engineering of UADY and Teya with the La Plancha park in Mérida with routes 100% electric.

The chosen model is the Irizar ie tram bus. The governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal, has highlighted that “with these vehicles there will already be 750 new units that will be incorporated into the Va-Y-Ven public transport system, which will help to carry out transfers more quickly, as well as to improve and preserve the quality of public transport service and our citizens.

For his part, the general director of Irizar e-mobility, Iñigo Etxeberria, explained that the Irizar Group takes advantage of “the convergence of business channels already established in Mexico to support this project and thus make it a benchmark in Latin America.” .

“For us it is a very important project, since it is the first time that we will implement our electromobility solutions beyond the European market,” he stressed.
