Baghdad: Islamic State (IS) militants have attacked a Iraqi military base and a prison in Syria, killing several people.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a military barracks near the town of Bakuba in Diyala province, north of the city. Eleven soldiers, including a sleeping lieutenant, were shot by the terrorists.
