After the so-called “list” of the American tycoon was revealed Jeffrey Epsteinimprisoned for sexual abuse and trafficking of minors, who took his own life in his cell in 2019, various names of political figures, businessmen, United Kingdom royalty and Hollywood stars began to circulate on social networks.

However, the question remains, how involved are these people related to Epstein.

Cases such as Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom or the socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, partner of Jeffrey Epstein, have reached the United States Courts for sexual crimes, especially against Virginia Giuffre, who was pressured to have sexual encounters with powerful men when was a teenager, among them the member of the British Crown, although they reached an out-of-court agreement.

Does appearing in the documents mean that they committed a crime against minors, as Epstein did? Although the answers are varied, as long as the testimonies of the Janes and the John Does do not point out the people allegedly involved in the list of flights and visitors to the tycoon’s island, it is not certain.

The names included in the documents were already known to everyone, when they were revealed during the trial and in separate accusations, such as that of the Duke of York. Just as several of the victims spoke openly with the media about their cases, so names linked to Epstein also emerged from there, long considered the King Midas that everyone wanted to be with.

But the only people arrested in the case were Epstein and his partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced in 2021 to 20 years for sexual abuse and trafficking of minors. Designated as “the boss,” she was the one who brought women – including minors – to Epstein. At one point, Maxwell spoke of videos that Epstein had in his possession of figures like Trump or Clinton, but those tapes never surfaced nor have they been charged in relation to this case.

The Duke of York faced a separate lawsuit from Giuffre, but settled with her to avoid a trial. The case made Prince Andrew the black sheep of the British royal family and he was separated from his charges and sidelined from events, to prevent the scandal from further damaging the royals.

Although the documents reveal allegations of abuse, for example, against the late former governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, he was never charged. He died last September and always denied having committed any wrongdoing linked to Epstein’s sexual abuse case.

Even before the documents were published, misinformation about their content was rife. Social media users falsely claimed that host Jimmy Kimmel’s name could appear in the documents, fueled by a comment New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made Tuesday on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Kimmel responded on X that he had never met Epstein and that Rodgers’ “reckless words put my family in danger.”
