11,000 fans applied to be there live at the Christmas circus, and 210 of them were actually allowed to watch the show on site on Saturday. Thousands of viewers watched the program with an announced “open end” via live stream.

“Above all, we are here today because we want to collect donations,” said Jan Böhmermann at the beginning. The donation page below betterplace.org already showed around 260,000 euros from 4,000 donors.

“We are a little better than last year,” explained the 42-year-old. The amount continued to climb every second in the evening. At 10 p.m. it was already almost half a million euros. “But: There is still room for improvement!” continued Böhmermann, who himself threw a sum of 16,600 euros into the donation pot. And Olli Schulz followed suit: “Of course I’ll also donate 16,000 euros,” he explained.

The first guest to come on stage was Palina Rojinski (38), who, with a look at the stars, also confirmed that the two of them had a rosy podcast future. The “Gemischtes Hack” podcaster Tommi Schmitt (34) listed “The Big Five” things that shouldn’t be missing from the dinner table. Actor Bjarne Mädel (55) staged an outburst of anger after which donations shot past the 500,000 euro mark.

There were also greetings from Joe Rogan (56) and the heavy metal band “Heavy Saurus”.

“Thank you Jan and Olli for the fantastic entertainment for many years!”, “My favorite Christmas party – every year!” and “Great fundraiser!” it was said, among other things, in the comments of the Christmas circus donors.

“We will easily jump over the million,” Jan Böhmermann was certain after around four hours of broadcasting.

The total at the end of the shipment was 695,000 euros, just above the previous year. Whether the overall target of 1.5 million will be reached remains to be seen in the coming weeks.

The four fundraising goals to which donations can still be made until January 8, 2024 are:

HateAid
Johanniter Children’s Home “Pustebluse”Partnership for Democracy KöthenFoundation Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials

Last year around 1.5 million euros were raised for a good cause. The money was divided equally among the fundraising goals.

For the broadcast on Saturday, Jan Böhmermann announced that he definitely wanted to top this amount. He even invited top model Heidi Klum (50) to the live broadcast, but she didn’t appear in the end.
