The former president of the Republic, <a href="http://www.time.news/mexico-announces-severance-of-diplomatic-relations-with-ecuador-after-raid-on-embassy-former-vice-presidents-exile-is-the-cause-of-trouble/" title="Mexico announces severance of diplomatic relations with Ecuador after raid on embassy… Former vice president's exile is the cause of trouble”>Rafael Correa, made harsh criticism of the national leader Daniel Noboa, during an interview with Radio Sonorama.

Correa accused Noboa of being immature, vain, megalomaniac and of sinking the country with his management. He also severely questioned the State Attorney General, Diana Salazar, whom he described as corrupt.

«I think (Daniel Noboa) has some kind of disorder. “He is an immature guy, totally vain, megalomaniacal (…) He is a total improviser and spoiled person who is sinking the country,” he stated.

In his opinion, the social and economic crisis in Ecuador continues to worsen because political power remains in the hands of the same people. He criticized Noboa’s lack of ability to reach agreements and described him as an improviser and a liar.

You can see that (Daniel Noboa) is improvisation after improvisation. A guy who kidnaps Jorge Glas and keeps him locked up in a maximum security prison (…) How can you support a guy like that? It is seen that he is mediocre, a liar; “It seems that he is a bad person and that he is not interested in the country,” he sentenced.

Regarding the report in The New Yorker, he indicated that the report ended up harming him by exposing negative aspects of his management and straining relations with other South American countries.

I am crazy for wanting to serve my country, I am crazy for preventing corruption from continuing in Ecuador.’: Daniel Noboa

Regarding his judicial situation in Ecuador, Correa reiterated that he is a politically persecuted person and accused Diana Salazar of being involved in selective justice that seeks to destroy the opposition.

He insisted that Salazar should be in prison for corruption and criticized what he considers a double standard in the Ecuadorian justice system.

Regarding the 2025 presidential elections, Correa did not rule out forming political alliances, but he distanced himself from certain sectors of the left whom he accused of being criminals and political merchants. He expressed that he prefers to lose or retire from politics rather than give up on his principles.

That does not mean that we are going to square with anyone on the Left. Principles unite me more than ideology. With left-wing criminals and left-wing political merchants who have lent themselves to everything, it would be a moral surrender to unite. “I would rather lose a thousand times, retire from politics than give up on my principles,” he pointed out.

Finally, Correa stated that his current mission is not to build a personal political future, but to work for the development of Ecuador and overcome the historical problems of underdevelopment in the country.

«I am not here for my political future. I’m not interested and I don’t need it. That is not my life mission. My life mission is to work for my country (…) I will be where it is most useful. Obviously that does not mean avoiding my responsibilities. “I’m not looking for anything for myself,” he clarified.
