Ivan Kondov met with the ambassadors of the member states of the European Union

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov met today with the heads of the embassies of the member states of the European Union in our country. The meeting was organized on the initiative of H.E. Mr. Miklós Boros, Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria, whose country currently presides over the Council of the EU. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the center of the meeting of the Bulgarian foreign minister with the ambassadors of the EU countries in Sofia were the topics of the EU agenda. Minister Kondov expressed his expectation for a positive decision by the Council of the EU by the end of this year regarding the abolition of control at our Schengen land borders.

Among the issues discussed was the enlargement of the EU, based on the observance of the principle of own merits in fulfilling the conditions and commitments.
Minister Kondov and the European ambassadors also exchanged positions on current developments in the Middle East region, continued support for Ukraine in response to Russian aggression and other issues on the international agenda.

Ivan Kondov emphasized the good progress of our country in the process of joining the OECD, noting the active cooperation between all the structures responsible for the process in our country with the Organization’s committees.
