According to the president, Mordisco was seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and green pants, while traveling in a canoe through the waters of Caquetá. The photograph, which has circulated among senior military intelligence officers, shows this man considered Colombia’s public enemy number one in what appears to be an attempt to stay off the radar of the security forces.
The president stated: “Apparently alone, in a canoe, skinny, you can tell he is running away.” Given the growing threat represented by the group led by Iván Mordisco, Petro granted authorization for the public force to proceed to capture or neutralize them.

The influence of Mordisco, who has managed to consolidate himself as one of the main figures of the dissidents after the internal fragmentation of the FARC, extends throughout the regions of the Guaviare, Caquetá and Putumayo. However, its presence in other areas of the southwest of the country is less notoriouswhich has complicated the operations against him. According to intelligence reports, the dissident leader moves with a small group of men, which has allowed him to escape ambushes from both the authorities and his enemies within other dissident factions, such as the Second Marquetalia Border Commandos and another group under the command of alias Calarcá.
The Central General Staff, led by Iván Mordisco, brings together some 24 armed structures and has approximately 1,200 combatants. Its control in the region, although fragmented, remains a constant threat to stability in the areas under its influence.
