Pedro Acosta has captured all eyes at the Sepang Shakedown. The Murcian rider and rookie in the MotoGP category already attracted attention the first two days for positioning himself very close to Pedrosa (leader on the first day) and Espargaró (the second). The third man’s patience had run out, he took the bull by the horns and led from start to finish a day that ended with rain and that allowed him to test the RC16 in the wet.
Acosta was the fastest on the third day, and only after a slight contact with the KTM. Although it is true that he also crashed almost shortly before the end of the session, that did not stop him from continuing to ride the KTM for the rest of the day. And although his results are already something to talk about, however, He prefers to remain conservative and not give himself too many wings before starting the season.
El Tiburón de Mazarrón detailed that these three days of testing have been dedicated to “work on my riding style, try to understand the tires in MotoGP and find a set-up for the bike”. The result has been more than positive, as he himself says: “We have to be happy with this first test”.
Although the fast laps have surprised everyone, including him, what matters most to him is the race pace: “We did some fast laps, but the most important thing is that we had a good dry race pace. We even managed to get some wet time, which is always a plus.“, explained the Spanish pilot at the end of the Shakedown. Having been crowned the best driver on the last day of testing, and that being a rookie, Acosta says that he now wants to “enjoy the two days of rest” before seeing him again on the RC16 from February 6 to 8.

Pedro was able to set some decent times in the dry, and he was also able to test a bit in the wet, which is always good.
