A person has been arrested for possessing drugs with the intention of selling them in a shop in front of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

Based on the secret information received by the Jaffna District Crime Prevention Unit that drugs were being sold in a shop in front of the hospital, the police recovered 100 grams of heroin from the owner’s possession while raiding the shop.

After that, the police who did not arrest the owner, detained him at the police station and proceeded with investigations.

At the same time, the police said that their investigations have revealed that he was smuggling drugs from Colombo to Jaffna and selling them, and that they are taking steps to arrest the members of the drug network associated with him.
