Vehicle maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announces a multi-year strategic partnership with technology giant NVIDIA, a leader in artificial intelligence, to jointly develop next-generation autonomous driving systems, as well as other artificial intelligence-based experiences and services to enhance the company’s customers’ driving experience .

Starting in 2025, all new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will be built on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform, which will provide a wide range of autonomous driving and parking applications, active safety and driver assistance applications, as well as artificial intelligence applications for driver and passenger monitoring and advanced imaging of the vehicle environment.

The technological solution will be based on the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion 8 autonomous vehicle platform, which will include: NVIDIA DRIVE Orin chip-based mainframes, safety, communication and security systems, as well as an advanced sensor array. DRIVE Orin is the “brain” of the car’s artificial intelligence and it runs the Jaguar and Land Rover operating system, while the DRIVE Hyperion platform will be the “central nervous system” of the vehicle.

As part of its strategic partnership, Jaguar Land Rover will use NVIDIA’s NVIDIA DGX based data center solutions to train artificial intelligence models. The company will also leverage NVIDIA Omniverse technology and the DRIVE Sim platform to perform physically accurate real-time simulations in development processes.

Jaguar Land Rover’s architecture and platform will enable the company to provide innovative assistive and automatic driving services throughout the life of the vehicle through automatic software updates (OTA – Over The Air)
