Not too bad the basic idea of Halloween Ends, thirteenth and (perhaps) last chapter of the saga created 44 years ago by John Carpenter, third title of the final trilogy which also includes Halloween (2019) e Halloween Kills (2021): Evil is not just Michael Myers, the whitened-faced serial killer, but the poison of evil that has plagued an entire community, the gluey Haddonfield. Evil is not individual but collective, widespread, overflowing. An overlap of dark and lethal thoughts that lead to crime and suffering. Thus the now elderly Myers, once burned, shot to death and buried in a criminal asylum, becomes the lanoint your hands of the devil, the perpetrator (and the virus) of bad social conscience.
There has been no trace of him for four years, but everyone still fears him as if he’s never gone. His opponent always Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), who lives watching & trembling with her niece Allyson (Andi Matichak) after the death of her daughter and husband at the hands of the madman. Laurie doesn’t rest. He is writing his memoirs as a privileged victim and everyone now considers her a bit crazy, even the policeman who has followed the case over the years.
The new element is the nightmares of Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell)mechanic in dad’s workshop, targeted by bullies, suffocated by his mother, Allyson’s suitor. accused of killing a child he babysat. The young man was acquitted, but in the city they give him the torment. the fuse near the lighter. Breeding Joker Syndrome. And Laurie is the only one, by hook or by crook, who can stop the slaughter.
Semi-prehistoric horror but of sure impact, full of ancient charm, elementary, naive and noisy with all those doors slamming. Evil, he says Halloween Ends, a disease of overwhelming power. It was exciting to say goodbye to Laurie Strode. I’ve been playing her for 44 years. That’s two thirds of my life, so yes, it was pretty weird. The first movie changed my life one hundred percent. Every good thing that happened to me happened thanks to HalloweenJamie Lee Curtis explained. The style of director David Gordon Green dated, schematic, expressionist. But when MM comes out of the cave in which he has taken refuge, it is like a wounded beast raise the cleaver in the shade the chills are guaranteed.
