Rep. Jang Gyeong-tae of the Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon’s letter sent the night before to supporters camped out near his official residence in Hannam-dong to block an arrest warrant, saying, “This is a clear additional charge of ‘incitement of rebellion.'”
Representative Jang said on YTN Radio’s ‘News Fight’ on the 2nd, “I thought that the government was ruined because I had been running the government with that kind of mentality until now.” He was found guilty of ‘incitement of rebellion’, and a clear charge was added. “That useless message will also become a problem during the Constitutional Court’s impeachment trial,” he pointed out.
Even toward the People Power Party, “the special prosecution for the civil war and the special prosecution for Kim Kun-hee continue to adopt the rejection party line.” “I have a personal opinion that the People’s Power Party, which continues to reject the special investigation into the civil war based on party lines, should be ‘judged to disband the unconstitutional political party,’” he said. “It will be subject to judgment for disbanding the unconstitutional political party,” he criticized.
At the same time, “Isn’t the Unified Progressive Party also disbanded because it did not cooperate with the democratic order? “The fact that the People Power Party is now rejecting the special prosecutor for the civil war and interfering with the appointment of constitutional court judges is itself a violation of the constitutional order,” he argued.
Previously, President Yoon told his supporters in a handwritten letter on the 1st, “The Republic of Korea is now in danger due to the movements of sovereignty-violating forces and anti-state forces inside and outside the country,” and “I will fight with you to the end to protect this country.” appealed.
In a one-page letter of A4 paper that began with “To all patriotic citizens who love freedom and democracy!”, President Yoon claimed, “I am watching your efforts through a real-time live broadcast on YouTube.”
He added, “Liberal democracy, where each and every citizen is the owner, not the country or the party, will definitely win,” adding, “Let’s do our best.” This is the first time that President Yoon has issued a political message since the impeachment bill was passed by the National Assembly.
In particular, in his message that day, President Yoon revealed that he had watched the rally on YouTube and used the expression ‘patriotic citizen’, which is usually used at conservative rallies. He then used the expressions ‘anti-state forces’, which were used to point out the opposition party in statements made at the time martial law was declared, as well as ‘sovereignty-invading forces’. It is pointed out that this reflects the intention to rally hard-core supporters opposed to impeachment.
