The Japanese Foreign Ministry announced the expansion of the list of Russian companies that Japanese entities are prohibited from dealing with as part of Western sanctions against Moscow, to include 29 new companies and industrial institutions.

The Foreign Ministry statement said: “Measures have been added to ban the export of products that contribute to strengthening the Russian industrial base.”

She added, “29 companies were included in the list, including Kalashnikov, Almaz-Antey, and NPO Basalt Military Industries.”

The list also includes “Aviadvigatel” for the manufacture of aircraft, “NEK Uralvagonzavod”, “Tsnyag” and “Ovrora” for the manufacture of tanks, trains and heavy machinery.

Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced that his country would expand sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine, as other members of the G7 did earlier this week.
